Forgiveness
Was talking with my Mother-in-Law. (She rocks by the way.) We were discussing forgiveness, and this is a quote she sent me I thought I would share with you all. Just some gum for your mind to chew on.
Making Friends and Making them count, Em Griffin quotes Frederick Buechner "To forgive somebody is to say one way or another, 'You have done something unspeakable, and by all rights I should call it quits between us. Both my pride and my principles...demand no less. However, although I make no guarantees that I will be able to forget what you've done and though we may both carry the scars for life, I refuse to let it stand between us. I still want you for my friend.'"

SIGH. Alright. I've been preached to. LOL. Hubby and I haven't been on speaking terms since yesterday evening. I just felt he wasn't caring about my thoughts/feelings and it blew out of proportion. I'll try to make up :)

You know, I had (a lot) of second thoughts about posting this one. So thank you for your feedback- I'm glad I did post it if it was able to help out just one person.
Heather: yeah, I know what you mean about not knowing if you're there yet. I have found that forgiveness (especially when you've been deeply hurt) is almost a daily choice you make. Some days are easier than others. Sometimes you wish you could erase your memory. I have found that forgiving (those who have offended or hurt me) has actually really helped me to heal from those offenses. It's a long process.
I really like that quote. Thanks for sharing it. I think that is something that everyone needs to keep in mind, we all have things to forgive at some point and time in our lives. That quote is a really good way of looking at it. Friendships, or just relationships in general are so much more important! thanks again for sharing!

I had a 'light bulb' moment in my early twenties after years of harboring anger (trying to give myself wrinkles & gray hair in the process)...you always need to forgive regardless of whether anyone shows remorse or says 'Im sorry'.

Prudence-yes friendships and relationships ARE so much more important...
Jennybee-I totally agree, you should forgive regardless of whether the person asks for it or shows any remorse.
I think something that people forget is that forgiveness is as much (maybe more, I don't know) for the person who is forgiving as for the person who needs forgiveness.
